COVID continues to impact us all in each our own ways, and so too Camberwell Chorale as we find ourselves continuing in lockdown conditions.

Accordingly, and as you would realise at this time, due to ongoing restrictions it is not possible for us to proceed with our 18 September performance of “The Pied Piper of Hamelin” by Sir Hubert Parry, “From the Bavarian Highlands” by Sir Edward Elgar, and the glorious “Kyrie” from Dame Ethel Smyth’s “Mass in D”.

This concert will now form part of our 2022 Performance Program, as will also the beautiful works intended for presentation on 10 October, being Handel’s “Foundling Hospital Anthem XVI”, written for the Foundling Hospital in London and first performed in its chapel, and the “Ultrecht Te Deum & Jubilate Deo”, written by Handel to celebrate the peace of Ultrecht in 1713; included in this concert program will also be Haydn’s “Te Deum” in C Major.

Our presentation of Handel’s “Messiah” is still scheduled for 28 November, and we are extremely hopeful this performance will proceed.

Camberwell Chorale continues to adapt to circumstances as they present, and will continue to do so until we can all be together once again making and enjoying beautiful music.  The Choir, its Friends, Followers and Supporters are all part of a very special community, one united in the love of beautiful music, and one that will endure beyond our current difficulties.  We will all come out the other end and celebrate the resilience and determination of a force in the choral community which this year celebrates its 77th year!

We’ll let you know of further updates as and when they become available, but in the meantime, from all of us at Camberwell Chorale, please take care … and, as always, keep singing!

Kind regards

Welcome to Camberwell Chorale’s website. We hope you find the information you want about our concerts, about joining the choir, or about anything else . . .

The Camberwell Chorale is a community of people which meets regularly to share the joy and challenge of learning and performing quality choral music. Members come from all around Melbourne, gathering in the City of Boroondara to celebrate their love of music, and to prepare for the usual five or six concerts a year. The Chorale has been doing this since 1944, and it’s still going strong!

We would welcome your application for Choir membership, your presence at our concerts, or your invitation to the Chorale for a performance at an occasion of your choice.
