Handel’s Samson, Hawthorn Arts Centre, Hawthorn, Sunday 30 April 2017
Join us at the Hawthorn Arts Centre, Burwood Road, Hawthorn, on Sunday, 30th April at 2:30 pm for Handel’s Samson, with the Camerata Orchestra, soloists Lee Abrahmsen and Lauren Savrasov (sopranos), Hamish Gould (Counter Tenor), Michael Lapina (Tenor), Lucas de Jong (Baritone) and George Kozlowski (Bass).
Written in 1741, Samson was first performed at London’s Covent Garden on 18 February 1743, ten months after the first performance of his Messiah. His new oratorio Samson was so popular that it was revived in the nine subsequent concert seasons. Rarely performed in Australia, this is a great opportunity to hear this exciting work.
